Get around easily with a rental car
The United States is a vast country, with big cities, small towns, and miles and miles of interstate highways and freeways. While a number of the big cities do have good public transportation services, the convenience and ease of movement when one has a car to get around, cannot be beaten, especially since in small town America, a car is not a luxury but a necessity.
While it is true that by and large, all the car rental agencies offer competitive rates and there will not be huge price differentials, different services are offered by different agencies. The larger cities and states where tourist traffic is highest, like California and Florida, will have the best rates for car rentals. It pays to read up on what each company is offering, so that you can make an informed choice and pick the service that meets your needs. For example, Enterprise is a company that is known for its pick and drop service. They offer free pickup and drop off from their location to wherever you are, within a certain number of miles. When you’re alone then this is greatly convenient as you don’t have to find your own way.
From high end to basic models, small cars to big sedans, trucks, minivans and SUVs, you can rent any kind of automobile to suit your needs. A quick search on the internet, and you will have a plethora of choices of car rental companies to choose from. Budget, Hertz, Enterprise, Alamo, and Avis are some of the most well-known and long standing names amongst them. There are also some smaller and lower end companies that keep less nice cars and thus offer the rentals at lower rates, like the aptly named Rent a Wreck.
Keep in mind: If you are between the ages of 25 and 70, you should have no trouble renting at any of the car rental services, and at the best prices available. If you fall outside that age bracket, you will be charged additional fees, and not every car rental company may entertain you. A little research on the internet or calls to the local branches should give you the answers.
